The Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF) is an innovative organization working at the intersection of science and business. A non-profit, SIRF awards grants to individuals and institutions to conduct forward-thinking research that will advance the seafood industry.
SIRF has funded over $4 million for over 400 research grants and published approximately 400 related research papers, all publicly available. In the ever-shifting tides of the marine economy, SIRF seeks to fund developments in the pressing areas of nutrition, fisheries resource management, food safety technology, and aquaculture.
SIRF is underwritten by voluntary contributions from the seafood community and beyond. Our donors support pivot moments in seafood research through contributions to SIRF’s Perpetual Funds, Living Tribute Funds and Memorial Funds, which have been established to honor those who have served and impacted the industry.
SIRF welcomes you to share in our industry-progressing research. Here you can browse our research database, find updates on current projects, meet our researchers, learn about our donors and find information on SIRF fundraising events. We also invite you to help expand our research by making a donation to SIRF through any of our open funds.
SIRF works to better seafood because seafood betters us. Thank you for your support.
